Harassment & Vulgarity — Harassment, name calling, taunting and vulgar/inappropriate comments are not allowed. Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, (all isms fall into this category) etc. remarks will result in an immediate ban with no prior warning. Makeup must be visible. — • Makeup must be at least 50% of the photo. Crop out unnecessary head/chest/background space that does not contribute to the look.

• Make sure to take photos in the best lighting possible and make sure the quality of the photo is clear and not fuzzy/distorted/pixelated.
• Mirror selfies are not allowed.
Appropriate angles/tilts/turns. — • Full face and eye makeup looks need to be angled appropriately. A straight-on shot is strongly recommended and preferred. However we will consider a handful of others if the makeup is clearly and easily seen.

Photo Editing & Filters. — Please no edited or filtered photo or video submissions. This includes beauty mode on newer phone models, as well as Snapchat/Bestie cam/other app cameras. If you’re unsure if yours is acceptable due to autofocus or whatnot, please message us beforehand.
Unnecessary/Inappropriate — Please keep the poses in your photo simple and clear. Not allowed: Playing with hair, hair in face, biting your lip, sticking your tongue out, photobombs of your cat or dog, smoking, etc.
• Nudity and excessive cleavage is also prohibited and will be removed.
• Any posts with titles that are deemed sympathy-garnering will be removed. Examples include: "Just broke up with my bf", "I have X illness/disease", "My skin is awful", etc. Please keep additions like these in the comment section ONLY.
Impersonating or Stealing Content. — Don’t post pictures of people who aren’t you. Don't post content that is not yours. Seriously, this shouldn’t be said. If you are caught impersonating or stealing content you will be banned.
Do not make empty accusations, please provide evidence if you believe this is happening by sending us modmail.
Crossposting/Reposting of any MakeupLounge user's photos is subject to a temporary ban. You must received permission from OP. Simply crediting them is not sufficient enough.
Constructive Criticism. — Constructive criticism is welcomed here. If you don't think you can handle it, then reconsider posting.
• There is a difference between constructive criticism vs insults and verbally abusive behavior. Avoid intentionally putting people down and focus more on helping them, otherwise your comment will be removed.
Example: "That lip color doesn't suit you!" [BAD]
"I think if you went with a lip color that has more warmth to it, it would compliment the whole look!" [GOOD]
Product List. — Make sure to leave a comment of your list of products in your makeup look. Please post shade names as well so people can re-create the look.
If the product(s) are discontinued/limited edition, that is also ok. If you can think of a dupe for any product(s), please share them if possible.
Looks that do not include product lists posted within an hour of submission will be removed and re-instated once a mod has seen that a product list has been posted.
DO NOT list your products in the title.
Disparaging of Brand Use. — Do not preach, ridicule, or criticize a poster's choice in using a specific brand. Including if a brand is cruelty vs non-cruelty free, drugstore vs luxury, any controversies, etc.
These comments will be removed as it may stir up drama and arguments.
Hauls/Swatch Post Requirements. — All haul/swatch posts must include the following:
* Specify whether or not you're using primer
* Tell us your skin tone/undertone if you know it
* Include the names of the palette and eyeshadows swatched
* A brief review/first impressions
Excessive Posting/Spam. — Excessive themed-posts (i.e. 100 days of makeup, daily makeup challenges, viral tags, etc.) may be deemed spam at the discretion of the mods and subject to removal. Challenge/themed posts/things like that need to be limited to one a day per user.
Blatant attention seeking behavior by spamming the subreddit multiple times a day may also be removed or result in a temporary or permanent ban.
Posts must be related to makeup or they will be subject to removal.
Self-Promotion. — Social media such as Youtube channels and Instagram pages should not be referenced in post titles, nor should they be directly linked. Watermarks that link to Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/etc. pages are not allowed, however, you may watermark with your Reddit username as an alternative if you are wary of people taking your photo.
Minimal linking to social media in comments of your own post is acceptable at the discretion of the moderators (please do not spam 10 different social media platforms.)
COVID-Related Content. — Any posts or comments mentioning any politics, conspiracies, any other topics, etc regarding COVID-19 will be removed. Subtle mentions, or skirting around this rule may also be removed on a case-by-case basis. We have updated this rule to permit discussion of masks, especially as it relates to mask makeup.
